Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested After Injuring Bicyclist in Me

MESA, AZ – Police have arrested the 19-year-old woman they believe to be responsible for a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a bicyclist in Mesa on Monday.

According to ABC 15, police were called to the scene of an auto vs. bicycle crash near 98th Street and Broadway Road shortly after 4 p.m.

Bystanders told police they saw the driver of a black vehicle run through a stop sign and strike a man on a motorized bicycle at the intersection. The man was ejected from his bicycle and suffered a severe, potentially life-threatening head injury. Emergency responders took the 55-year-old to Banner Desert Hospital where his current condition remains unknown.

Neighbors directed police to a black Chevrolet Cobalt with significant front-end damage parked in the driveway of a nearby home. They arrested 19-year-old Haley Dean after she admitted to having been the driver responsible for the crash.
