MESA, AZ - Two people died and one man was arrested following a major collision on US-60 in Mesa early Saturday morning.
According to 12 News, the crash was reported at about 1:20 a.m. near the exit to Country Club Drive.
Police say a Honda, driven by 27-year-old Bryan Badillo of Queen Creek, collided with a Chevrolet Impala. The impact pushed the Impala into the HOV lane, where the vehicle stopped.
The Impala was then struck from behind by a motorcycle being driven by 48-year-old Brian Sanders. Sanders was thrown from the bike and later died from his injuries at an area hospital.
The driver of a Nissan van also approached the collision, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the concrete median. The driver, 60-year-old Ricardo Montana, died at the scene.
Badillo, the driver responsible for the first crash, was reportedly suspected of impairment. He was taken into custody and has been charged with two counts of manslaughter.
