Fiery Crash in Central Phoenix Leaves Postal Worker Dead

postal worker traveling in mail truckPHOENIX, AZ ”“ A postal worker was killed and another person was critically injured in a fiery crash in central Phoenix Tuesday night.

According to 12 News, the two-vehicle collision happened sometime before 7 p.m. near the intersection of 52nd Street and McDowell Road.

A USPS vehicle was pulled over on the side of the road when it was struck from behind by a box truck. The crash caused the USPS vehicle to catch on fire.

The victim, 59-year-old Michael Blanton, was pronounced dead at the scene. The box truck driver, a man in his 30s, was rushed to a local hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are working to establish an official cause of the crash at this time.
