Police Charge Driver Over Fatal Armored Car Wreck

handcuffs on book next to gavelPHOENIX, AZ – The man responsible for a collision involving an armored car in late March that killed an 11-year-old child and left a five-year-old critically injured has been charged with several crimes stemming from the incident.

According to a report by CBS 5, the head-on crash took place on March 24th near the intersection of 87th Avenue and Thomas Road.

Investigators say Tu’Ulafoaina Poloa was traveling at a high rate of speed when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Garda armored truck.

Two juvenile passengers were in Poloa’s vehicle at the time of the crash. An 11-year-old sustained fatal injuries and a five-year-old was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but is expected to recover.

Neither of the men in the armored car were hurt.

Poloa is now facing charges of manslaughter, endangerment, aggravated assault and aggravated DUI.
