Car Damaged in Tempe Train Collision

Police are investigating a crash that involved a car and a light rail train in Tempe on Thursday morning, Sept. 2. The collision occurred at approximately 7 a.m. near McClintock Drive and Apache Boulevard. According to Temple Police Detective Greg Bacon, the car was turning when it was struck by the light rail train. The train reportedly had the right of way. While there were no reports of injuries, the car sustained damage.

The accident caused McClintock Drive to be closed in both directions, and the light rail was delayed. Driver impairment is being investigated as a possible factor, Bacon said.
