Camp Lejeune Water Contamination Health Issues: What You Need to Know
The Honoring Our PACT Act was recently signed into law by President Biden, and since it includes the Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022, veterans and their loved ones who were exposed to contaminated water at the Marine Corps base can recover damages for related health issues and finally get justice.
But what kind of health issues did the exposure potentially cause? People who lived or worked at Camp Lejeune between August 1, 1953, and December 31, 1987, need to be aware of what conditions may have developed as a result of coming into contact with contaminated water at the North Carolina military base.
As many as one million Camp Lejeune veterans, workers, and residents may have been exposed to unsafe chemicals during that time period. For victims of this grave injustice, a long list of health conditions qualify if they want to file a lawsuit, provided they are eligible for damages.
Some of the conditions include, but are not limited to:
- Aplastic anemia and other myelodysplastic syndromes
- Appendix cancer
- Bile duct cancer
- Birth defects
- Bladder cancer
- Brain cancer
- Breast cancer
- Cardiac problems
- Cervical cancer
- Colorectal cancer
- End-stage renal disease
- Esophageal cancer
- Female infertility
- Fetal death
- Gallbladder cancer
- Hepatic steatosis
- Hodgkin lymphoma (Hodgkin disease)
- Intestinal cancer
- Kidney cancer
- Liver cancer
- Lung cancer
- Major fetal malformations
- Multiple myeloma
- Neurobehavioral effects
- Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
- Other unlisted cancer
- Ovarian cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
- Parkinson’s disease
- Prostate cancer
- Renal toxicity
- Renal toxicity (nephrotoxicity)
- Soft tissue cancer
- Spinal cancer
- Thyroid cancer
People who lived or worked at Camp Lejeune for 30 days or more during the years 1953 to 1987 are entitled to file a claim, and at Phillips Law Group, we think every minute that passes without a veteran getting justice for this grievous harm done to them is one minute too many.
At Phillips, we are outraged that military veterans and their families were exposed to dangerous chemicals that may have caused serious health problems like the ones we’ve listed here.
If you or a loved one were previously stationed at Camp Lejeune, please don’t delay in contacting Phillips Law Group to learn about all of your legal options for long-awaited — and long-deserved — justice.
The lawyers here are of top quality. Especially Trey Dayes, who was always respectful and hard-working.
Phillips Law Group has a proven track record of success. Juan Roque, in particular, is integral to that. He works with integrity, compassion, and an undefeated optimism that makes him a valuable asset.
I tried a few previous law firms and none would take my car accident case with confidence they could get my anything. Phillips law group took my case and although it took around 4 years to get this case settled as I was in treatment, they never let up with insurance adjusters and they got me as much money as possible. They worked hard for me and advocated for me. Shoutout to key individuals who worked my case nonstop of the years, Robert Ross & Jasmine, you are AMAZING!
I want to thank attorneys Tim and Robert and the paralegal Bethany for all they had done on my case. They were all empathetic, knowledgeable and professional. All my questions were answered, emails returned in a timely matter, and promises fulfilled. I recommend Phillips Law Group if you need help with your injury case.
They knew exactly how to explain the case to me in a way that I would understand it. They gave me hope that my life wasn’t over.
Although my accident was fortunately not a major one, The Phillips Law Group AZ treated it as such. Their staff, specifically Mr Juan Roque was very professional, courteous and most importantly very informative. Mr Roque's attentive service was phenomenal and I highly recommend this firm!
I would like to thank Vanessa Rodriguez for helping me with my case because I was in total shock about the accident. She had listened to all my concerns and had answered every question I had . She was great !!!
My review is for Kathy Hudson a legal assistant at the law firm. She is great! She is very professional and a fair based person. She was never rude to me and always called me back. She listened to me and had my best interest as number 1. Mr Nasir who is a supervisor at law firm also was very professional and helpful. Not sure if spelling his name correctly but sorry if not. As far as mr Ross and the lady that runs the front desk reception I would say they are the most unprofessional and rude people I have met at a law firm in my life especially beings they were representing me. But Kathy made it overall a better experience. Thx Kathy.
Liz Gonzales was great!!!!
