Bicyclist Succumbs to Injuries Days After Tucson Crash

painted bicycle marking on roadTUCSON, AZ – A man died Sunday from injuries sustained in a bicycle crash in East Tucson earlier this month.

According to KGUN-9, the incident occurred on July 2nd near the intersection of South Alvernon Way and East Juarez Street.

Investigators believe the bicyclist, 55-year-old Russell Paul Williamson, was attempting to make a left turn onto Juarez Street when he was struck by a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck.

According to the Tucson Police Department (TPD), Williamson was rushed to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to his injuries more than a week later.

The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with police. That individual is not expected to face any charges in connection to the fatal crash.
