14-Year-Old Driver Involved in Deadly Car Crash

PHOENIX, AZ – Four children were taken to the hospital on Wednesday after a multi-vehicle collision caused by a 14-year-old driver.

According to ABC 15, the accident occurred when a Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by a 14-year-old child, blew through a stop sign near I-17 and Central Avenue and collided with a GMC Yukon.

The vehicle was carrying six children at the time of the collision and, according to police, the four children riding in the back of the vehicle were not wearing seat belts. Two of the six children in the Hyundai were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. A 12-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital in extremely critical condition, but later died. A 9-year-old boy was also transported to the hospital and is listed in serious condition. Two other children were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

It is not clear whether the Hyundai’s driver was among the injured.

The driver of the Yukon was not hurt.
