In 1973, Robert Arentz graduated, with honors, from Michigan State University. From there, he attended Pepperdine University School of Law, graduating in 1978. In addition to being admitted to practice law in the state of Arizona, he has also earned admittance to practice in California, various federal courts, and before the United States Supreme Court.

In 1984, Robert Arentz helped to create a public defender's office for Cochise County, Arizona. He served as that office's director for over five years. Mr. Arentz has also chaired for a State Bar Disciplinary Hearing Committee.
