On December 20, 2004, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a statement regarding the over-the-counter medication Naproxen. During a clinical trial involving Naproxen and patients at risk of developing Alzheimers Disease, it was discovered that there was an increased risk of cardiovascular problems, including heart attack and stroke, in those patients taking Naproxen when compared to those patients taking a placebo.
