Head-On Arizona Car Accident Seriously Injures Both Drivers
Monday, 09 May 2011 14:40

There are certain mistakes made by motorists that other drivers are able to avoid for any number of reasons.  However, one mistake that's almost impossible to avoid occurs when a motorist crosses the center line on a two-lane road and moves directly into the path of an oncoming vehicle.  If this occurs when the two vehicles are in close proximity, there is almost nothing that can be done.  While it's too early to know exactly what occurred this morning, what is known is that a head-on Arizona car accident has left both drivers involved seriously injured.

According to the authorities, this Arizona car accident occurred at 5:15 this morning on the northbound Loop 303 Estrella Freeway near Grand Avenue in Surprise.  An 18-year-old motorist was heading one way on the road when his vehicle crossed to the other side of the road and collided violently with the 80-year-old driver of a vehicle headed in the other direction.  Police initially suspect that the 18-year-old driver fell asleep.  The 18-year-old driver was described as being in critical condition, and the other driver's condition was not specifically updated.  However, police have stated that he was seriously injured.

Arizona Car Accident Statistics

First and foremost, we'd like to offer our sincere hope that the people who were injured in this head-on Arizona car accident are able to survive the harm they have suffered and recover from their injuries.  In addition, this crash will now become part of the overall statistics regarding Arizona car accidents.  Every year, more than 140,000 such crashes occur, leading to more than 65,000 injuries and to more than 1,000 fatalities.

Arizona Car Accident Lawyers

If the available facts are accurate and the 18-year-old driver did cross over the center line, then it's possible that the 80-year-old man who was injured could file an Arizona personal injury lawsuit against that driver.  If such a lawsuit is filed and is successful, the man could be awarded damages that compensate him for his medical costs and his pain and suffering.
