Courtney J. Vernon
Courtney Vernon is a personal injury attorney with Phillips Law Group, P.C. She is a 2002 graduate of The John Marshall Law School, Chicago, where she made the Dean’s list and served as a judge for practice competitions in the school’s Moot Court Council.
For her undergraduate studies, Courtney attended the University of Iowa where she received a degree in history and political science in 1999.
Prior to moving to Arizona, Courtney was a personal injury attorney with Hausmann-McNally, S.C. in Norwalk, IA. While working for Hausmann-McNally, Courtney represented clients with injuries ranging from minor soft tissue sprains to catastrophic quadriplegic disabilities.
Prior to Hausmann-McNally, Courtney spent the majority of her career as in-house counsel for insurance companies. She worked as an associate staff attorney for American Family Insurance in West Des Moines, IA where she managed cases involving auto liability injuries, premise liability injuries and wrongful death claims.
Courtney also worked as a staff attorney for Travelers Insurance in West Des Moines, IA, where she handled general liability claims and workers’ compensation claims.
Courtney’s experience in the insurance industry has been valuable to her work representing clients at Phillips Law Group since she is able to anticipate how the insurance carriers will respond to certain claims. In addition to negotiating settlements, Courtney also has extensive experience trying cases in front of juries.
Courtney is licensed to practice law in Arizona, Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois.
In her off time, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family. She is married with two daughters both in elementary school. Courtney enjoys travelling. Her favorite vacation destination is Myrtle Beach, S.C. where she spends the 4th of July holiday with her family.
